Workshop
From Epigenomics to Metabolomics: integrating ‘big’ data into cohort studies
December 3rd 2015
University of Murcia, Murcia, Spain
We welcome you to a multidisciplinary workshop on Epigenetics and Metabolomics in which basic scientists, epidemiologists, and clinicians will integrate their knowledge to improve understanding on these biological processes involved in fetal programming of adult disease. The characterization of epigenetic DNA methylation may be helpful to better understand the interactions of inherited and environmental factors that shape health outcomes.
Many studies in the last decade have vastly increased the landscape of maternal epigenetic modifications that might affect fetal and child metabolism. These techniques provide to us a wide number of data, but very often the management and integration of such information into the big cohort studies is a challenge. Moreover, clinicians require more information on the meaningful of such results for their potential using in clinical routine. An important question is the degree of persistence of DNA methylation marks along the life.
The main objective of this workshop is to bring together leading experts from these interdisciplinary fields, and to explore how to manage these data from their analyses until interpretation and integration into the big cohorts. It will be explored data management not only from epigenetics but also from metabolomics, in an integrative interdisciplinary approach. If you are interested in applying these expensive methodologies in your work, this workshop will provide you of interesting tools.
Yours sincerely,
